The New York Yankees didnât have a pleasant stay in Milwaukee.
With the game tied at three, Brice Turang launched a walk-off homer off of David Bednar to defeat the Yankees 4-3 and complete a three-game sweep on Sunday afternoon. The Brewersâ three-run fourth inning off of Carlos Rodon got them out on top and in position to finish the job.
Rodon was making his season debut after recovering from surgery in his left elbow. The southpaw tossed 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out four and walking five. It was a shaky outing for the debut as the veteran has a bit of rust to knock off on an MLB mound.
The Bombers did have some strong offensive performances as Aaron Judge opened the game with his 16th homer of the season. The Captain gave his squad an early 1-0 lead. Spencer Jones gathered his first MLB hit and RBI in the second inning. Their biggest hit came off the bat of Jazz Chisholm Jr. who tied the game at 3 in the top of the sixth.
However, it was all for naught as the Bombers left Milwaukee without a victory.
The Yanks will travel to Baltimore on Monday to begin a three-game series with the Orioles and in sole possession of second place in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays. Ryan Weathers will get the start for Aaron Booneâs club.
