Brighton & Hove Albion reveal plans for long-awaited womenâs stadium
The Seagulls announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
A stadium for Brighton & Hove Albion Women has long been on the agenda and the club have now drafted up plans to construct one by the 2030/2031 season.
It has been revealed that the stadium will be built on land in Bennettâs Field opposite the clubâs main home of the American Express Stadium in Falmer. It is proposed that the stadium will have a 10,000 capacity and will directly link across to the AMEX.
Speaking following the announcement, Brighton & Hove Albion Womenâs managing director Zoe Johnson said, âThe prospect of a bespoke stadium, built exclusively for womenâs players, staff and supporters, is incredibly exciting. It is a project that is the first of its kind in the UK and Europe, and one of only three in the world, and will capture the imagination of stakeholders across the womenâs game, not just here but globally.
âIt is something we are asked about constantly, and we have worked hard to reach this moment, so it is exciting now to share this news with the wider world. It will help us push forward our ambitions to compete consistently both domestically in the Womenâs Super League, and also in European club competition, while helping us to attract key staff and grow a passionate fan base.
âWe also hope the stadium can support academy and development fixtures, giving more of our younger players valuable experience of playing in a purpose-built stadium environment.â
