After announcing Paton's contract extension, team owner and CEO Greg Penner released the following statement:
We are pleased to announce a new five-year contract for George Paton that reflects our confidence in his leadership, vision and the overall direction of our team. As our general manager, George has demonstrated a strong commitment toward building a winning roster while forming a collaborative and supportive partnership with Sean Payton.
I've enjoyed working with George over the last four seasons and appreciate the alignment we share in positioning the Broncos for sustained success.
Paton joined the club in 2021, one year before the Walton-Penner family purchased the team. Since naming Paton their GM, the Broncos have acquired or re-signed nine players who have earned 16 All-Pro selections (tied for fifth-most among NFL clubs from 2021-2025).
After reaching the AFC Championship game in 2025, the Broncos will now aim to make a Super Bowl run in 2026 after securing Paton's services for another half-decade.
