J.K. Dobbins is now 'completely healthy' after a foot injury ended his 2025 season with the Denver Broncos. Despite his injury history, the Broncos re-signed him to a two-year deal, citing his significant impact on the team.
J.K. Dobbins was having a great season with the Denver Broncos last fall before a foot injury sidelined him for the final nine games of the campaign (including two playoff contests).
Unfortunately, that kind of scenario has hindered Dobbins throughout his career. Before joining the Broncos in 2025, Dobbins was productive with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024, but he missed four games due to injuries. Before that, he missed 43 games in four years with the Baltimore Ravens.
While speaking at the NFL's annual league meeting last month, Denver general manager George Paton was asked about balancing the benefits of Dobbins' production and cultural fit with his injury history. The Broncos opted to re-sign Dobbins to a two-year deal this offseason despite those past injuries.
“You’re right, it’s a tough balance, but he is 27 years old," Paton said. "He is completely healthy now. That injury was kind of — it was a hip-drop [tackle]. It was a freak [injury], his body didn’t break down. He could’ve played in the Super Bowl. This guy, from the minute that he walked into our building, changed it. So it’s like, we didn’t want to let him leave. He meant too much to the building. He was a Top-4 rusher in the league when he got hurt. Let’s sign him back. He meant too much to this team.”
Dobbins rushed 153 times for 772 yards and four touchdowns through the first 10 games of the 2025 season. After being re-signed by Denver, Dobbins will aim to stay healthy for a full season for the first time in his NFL career.
