The Denver Broncos begin their offseason workouts today, with quarterback Bo Nix's ankle status being a key focus. Nix recently had a cleanup procedure on his ankle, casting doubt on his participation in spring practices.
The Denver Broncos are set to begin their offseason workouts today, and the status of quarterback Bo Nix (ankle) will be a key storyline going into the offseason program.
Nix has been at the team's facility this spring, but he underwent a cleanup procedure on his surgically repaired ankle last week, putting his status in doubt for spring practices. Denver's players will have about a month of weight lifting and conditioning before on-field work begins with organized team activities (OTAs) in June.
"Guys will be working on Monday, and then probably more of a team meeting [the] next week," coach Sean Payton said after the NFL draft. "Then certainly you’ve seen the schedule. Probably in the prior two years, we would have been out on the field and you guys would have been out there with us in May. It’s kicked back a little, so that will take place in June.”
It remains to be seen if Nix will be able to participate in OTAs or minicamp in June. NFL Network's reporting has indicated the quarterback should be ready to return at or near the start of training camp, which typically begins in late July. If that's an accurate timeline, Nix is unlikely to participate in the spring practices next month.
