The Denver Broncos made a big addition to their backfield over the weekend.
The Broncos used a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft to select Washington's Jonah Coleman, a 5-8, 220-pound running back who was productive both as a runner and as a receiver out of the backfield with the Huskies.
J.K. Dobbins remains Denver's starting running back going into training camp, and 2025 second-round draft pick RJ Harvey is still the favorite to serve as RB2 for now. That leaves Coleman to handle RB3 duties, and that's not an insignificant role given that he could be the top choice for third downs.
(Note that this is a projected depth chart. Denver won't be required to release an official depth chart until preseason later this summer.)

Coleman's arrival is particularly bad news for Tyler Badie, who served as the team's primary passing-down back last season. Coleman is an upgrade over Badie as a runner and as a receiver, and he's also a skilled pass blocker, which was Badie's main role in 2025.
Coleman also bumps Jaleel McLaughlin, Cody Schrader and Deuce Vaughn lower down the depth chart. The Broncos are going to have a crowded running back room this summer, and the team will have to make some tough roster cuts before the regular season.
