The Cleveland Browns are coming off two straight strong showings in the NFL Draft, but that has not stopped them from tinkering with their front office structure. In fact, they've hired a new consultant as they trek further into their offseason.
Trent Baalke, who has been the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers and the Jacksonville Jaguars throughout his time in the NFL, is joining the Browns in a consultant capacity. The job duties of Baalke's "consultant-like" gig have not been released.
Let's take a look at what the new Browns' consultant could bring to the table.
Baalke started his journey in the NFL in 1998 as a scout for the Jets. He then moved on to Washington before landing in San Francisco, where Baalke climbed the ladder. He started as a scout with the 49ers, but then was promoted to Director of Player Personnel, then to Vice President of Player Personnel before being named the general manager from 2011 to 2016 when he was fired.
Baalke then landed in Jacksonville in 2020 as the Director of Player Personnel before again working his way into an interim, then permanent, general manager role with the Jaguars. He lasted four years in that role before he was fired in 2024.
