Chiefs draft review by analyst will scare entire NFL
Chiefs' draft picks could reshape the NFL landscape, says analyst.
The NFL Combine provides crucial opportunities for prospects to meet with teams and showcase their skills. Teams conduct intense interviews to assess players' knowledge and intelligence regarding football schemes.
The NFL Combine is important for both prospects and teams for many reasons. It is a time when players have the opportunity to test in front of all the scouts, but, more importantly, to meet with their future teams.
These meetings are not just weird interview questions as you get in corporate America, but what it is is a very intense test of the players to show everything that they know. It is their opportunity to defend themselves for any mistakes in their film and show how intelligent they are when it comes to schemes.
Somehow, teams allow a camera inside those meeting rooms, which allows us to see some of what happens behind closed doors. Although this footage looks like it was recorded by a Ring camera, if you are a football nerd, this type of content is made for you.
The first video was of Spencer Fano and the new Cleveland Browns offensive line coach, George Warhop.
Warhop was on the controls running through a play, in detail that it sounds like Fano was in a compromised position. He asked Fano to talk about his technique and prove whether or not it was the correct technique for the defensive scheme. They were on the same page, and then at the end, Warhop complimented Fano by saying the move he executed is "unusual," and he is the only lineman in the draft that can execute it.
Then, wide receiver CK Concepcion was up. Similar to the way that Fano was getting grilled, Concepcion was on the hot seat by wide receivers coach Christian Jones.
Jones asked Concepcion how comfortable he was going across the middle, and with a small shrug, Concepcion confirmed that he was not afraid of it. Then Jones asked Concepcion to explain how he was taught how to run the "mesh" concept, and KC gave the correct answer.
These are just 45-second clips of these two players in the biggest job interview of their entire lives. These are a really cool look behind the scenes to see how these conversations go and what these teams are looking for and asking for when they put these players on the hot seat.
Meetings at the NFL Combine allow teams to evaluate players' knowledge, intelligence, and ability to defend against mistakes in their film.
NFL teams assess players through intense interviews that test their understanding of football schemes and their overall football intelligence.
Fans can gain insights into the evaluation process and the types of questions teams ask players during their meetings, as some footage is made available to the public.

Fano and Concepcion did more than enough to convince the Cleveland Browns that they were worth the first-round investment. Now, the real work begins as they try to live up to their first-round standards.
