The Boston Bruins plan to play everyone on Tuesday in their regular-season finale.
Boston will host the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night in Game 82 of the regular season, before the Bruins begin the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Although Boston rested some key players on Sunday, head coach Marco Sturm said the expectation is to play most of the regulars as the team wants to end the regular season on a high note.
âI think it was just important to go back to winning, first of all, to feel good again,â Sturm said after practice on Monday. âTotally different today when we came in. Guys are happy, theyâre loud.
âI think that, for us, is very important to go into the playoffs like that. Whatever happens happens, who we are going to play â it really doesnât matter. We want to win. We wanted to win yesterday, and we want to win tomorrow. That, I feel like, gives us the best chance to start a good playoffs.â
Although the Bruins have clinched a playoff spot, Boston can still play for playoff seeding on Tuesday against the Devils.
If the Bruins win, Boston will clinch being the top Wild Card team and would solidify them playing the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
So, ahead of Game 82, Bruins forward Pavel Zacha said the goal is to end the year on a win and enter the playoffs on a winning streak.
"I think the mood is good,â Zacha said. âIt was a big win yesterday; the guys played really well, and thatâs something we need to do even tomorrow. Feeling good towards the playoffs. Win tomorrow and prepare for the next step.â
The Bruins enter play with a record of 44-27-10.
