Bruno Fernandes has talked up Mateus Fernandes’ credentials as Manchester United eye summer move

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is a keen admirer of West Ham United star and Red Devils target Mateus Fernandes, and he has talked up his compatriot’s credentials, according to The Telegraph. Man United are preparing for life without Casemiro at the Old Trafford club and could also be without the out-of-favour Manuel Ugarte next season. They could end up needing to sign three new midfielders and have been watching the West Ham youngster ahead of a potential summer swoop.

The 21-year-old only joined the Hammers from Southampton last summer but could be on his way out even if the club stay up. Man United may need up to £80 million to sign Fernandes if West Ham do not relegate, but around £50m could be enough to get him if the London club find themselves in the Championship. While Fernandes could end up with back-to-back relegation on his curriculum vitae, his talents and huge potential cannot be denied.
