Cesc Fabregas is doing a great job as Como manager, and as as former Chelsea player he has of course been linked with the Blues now they’re looking for a new coach.
His recent quotes, picked up by the Telegraph show that’s very unlikely.
“I take all the football decisions. The sporting director, he’s day-to-day with me and we see football the same way,” Fabregas said of his setup at Como.
“I’m so happy and lucky that we have a president that trusts me a lot and has given me the confidence to go and take all the football decisions. That, for me, is really important.”
We’re sure he didn’t mean this to directly shoot down Chelsea – but that’s effectively what it does. Given these quotes, we can give up on the former Blue ever taking over manager while Clearlake are in charge.
Still, we never thought Fabregas was a realistic choice for Chelsea anyway, so this doesn’t change things much. It’s time to get to work and focus on the coaches who might actually be willing to join us.
