Bukayo Saka has grown up under the spotlight

Few players have become as synonymous with the English soccer as Bukayo Saka in recent history. Coming through Arsenal’s Hale End academy, he burst onto the scene as a teenager under Unai Emery in the 2018-19 season. First featuring as a left back, he blossomed into one of the game’s most exciting young attacking players on the right wing for the Gunners. At 24-years-old, he has already become a Premier League and England veteran with over 300 appearances for Arsenal and nearly 50 caps for England. His performances have seen him earn numerous awards, including England Men’s Player of the Year twice (2021-22, 2022-23) as well as the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2023.

For club and country, Saka has built his reputation as a deft wide player who excels in chance creation, one-on-one scenarios and set piece deliveries. He isn’t the fastest or the trickiest player on the pitch, but his ability to create space and whip in dangerous crosses has earned him the sort of reputation that sees him routinely double (and sometimes triple) teamed by opposing defenses. Coupled with a tireless defensive work rate, he is an exceptional two-way player Saka was a central part of England’s run during his first World Cup appearance at the 2022 World Cup, starting in four of their five matches. He found the net three times, including a brace against to open the tournament as well as a goal against in the round of 16. Though they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual finalists , his performance earned man of the match honors.
