The Chicago Bulls, on the one hand, got some exciting news in the 2026 NBA Draft lottery.
They moved up to the No. 4 overall pick -- which means they'll have the chance to choose one of AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, Darryn Peterson and Caleb Wilson, if they want.
There's just one problem: The Bulls have a horrific history with the fourth pick in the draft.
They've earned the fourth draft slot five times in their history. It's not pretty.
In 1968, they took Tom Boerwinkle.
In 1980, it was Kelvin Ransey.
Then in 2000 and 2001, they had No. 4 in back-to-back years. They got Marcus Fizer and Eddy Curry.
Then it took until 2020 to return, and that year, they got Patrick Williams.
You can also look back at 2006 when they traded down from No. 2 to No. 4, and they chose Tyrus Thomas.
None of those are selections to write home about.

Certainly on paper, it seems like the Bulls pretty much couldn't mess it up this year.
You could also make the case that they are very, very due.
But on the other hand, this is quite the run of coincidental bad luck. And whenever Michael Jordan hasn't been involved in Chicago's history, it's been ugly.
Maybe that'll be true again. There's certainly at least a bit of reason for the Bulls' fanbase to be nervous about landing in this specific spot.
