Caitlin Clark criticized for poor shooting: ‘Stop calling her Steph Curry’

Caitlin Clark has always been known for her three-point shooting ability. However, she is in the midst of a rather significant slump from beyond the arc.

Even going back to her time at the college level with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Clark has been lethal from beyond the three-point line, as she has made more three-pointers than any player in NCAA history throughout her college career. She continued that hot shooting at the professional level, setting a rookie record for the most made three-pointers in a season.

Clark’s entire game revolves around the three-pointer as she shoots from beyond the arc at high volume and from long distances. In turn, the Fever offense relies heavily on Clark’s deep shooting, as her ability to stretch the court and draw attention from opposing defenses opens things up for other players.

Over the past several games, however, Clark has not exactly been on target from beyond the three-point line.

In Clark’s last eight WNBA games, she has made just 9 of 58 three-point attempts, which works out to just 15.5% from beyond the arc – an absolutely dismal three-point percentage.

For context, one fan pointed out that Dyson Daniels of the Atlanta Hawks, who just put up the worst shooting season in NBA history, has made 16 of his last 58 three-point attempts, which works out to 27.6% from beyond the arc. This means that the worst shooter in the NBA has been considerably outperforming Clark over the same span.

Needless to say, Clark’s struggles from beyond the arc have led to a lot of criticism from fans, considering that’s supposed to be her specialty.
