Caleb Williams made significant progress in his second year with the Chicago Bears, improving his performance and reducing sacks. However, coach Ben Johnson aims for him to achieve a 70% completion rate this season.

Caleb Williams showed in Year 2 with the Chicago Bears that he is everything he was expected to be coming out of USC. He took a big leap forward last season. He reduced the number of sacks he was taking, and he showed just how good he can be in clutch moments. There is still, however, one area Ben Johnson wants him to address.
In a recent Bears Wire article by Alyssa Barbieri, Ben Johnson's statement about Caleb Williams and one of his goals this season was highlighted. Here is what Ben Johnson had to say about Caleb being more efficient as a passer:
“If we want to be elite, we want to be that 70 percent marker,” Johnson said, via CHGO. “We fell short of that. And we don’t shy away from that. I think when you look at it, for us to get to 65 percent completion even, cut that in half, we need to find 40 more completions over the course of the season. Well, let me tell you something. When you watch the self-scout, there’s 80, 90, 100 completions we left out on the table. And I’m not just talking about passes dropped.”
Ben Johnson has been the best thing for Caleb Williams, and their first season together was a great reflection of that. Last season was a great season for Caleb Williams, but he and Ben Johnson know there is even more they can tap into. Ben Johnson set a high standard for Caleb with a 70% completion rating. Caleb fell short of that this past season, but I would be surprised if he reaches that in year 2 of this offense as he gets more confident.
