Cam Ward injury update. Will Titans QB be back throwing for minicamp?
Four months after injuring his throwing shoulder in the Tennessee Titans' season finale in Jacksonville, Titans quarterback Cam Ward remains on schedule in his rehab process and has resumed throwing.
"He’s been out there," Titans GM Mike Borgonzi told reporters on April 16. "I’m sure you’ve seen some of the videos online of him throwing. It’s good. He’s trending in the right direction."
Borgonzi said Ward is trending toward throwing at Titans minicamp in June, a big step toward Ward being ready for training camp in July and a nice sign as Ward enters his first offseason under the tutelage of new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and new quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney.
The Titans opened their offseason program in early April and Ward was among the many players who reported for workouts, even though those workouts involve minimal on-field football training. Ward has been a fixture in the Titans' facility since January, so his presence isn't a surprise. But the opportunity to get early work in with new teammates like WR Wan'Dale Robinson and to rehab alongside returning receivers like Calvin Ridley, Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor is another benefit.
Borgonzi spoke about Ward's progress one week before the start of the , which begins on April 23 at 7 p.m. CT. One year after selecting Ward first overall, Borgonzi acknowledged that surrounding Ward with more help on offense remains a top priority.
