Enough is enough for Cameron Smith, as heâs been forced into a major change for the first time since he was nine.
The 2022 Open Championship winner was once a serial victor on the PGA Tour, but since his move to LIV Golf, his form has deteriorated massively.
Smith has missed the cut in his last six major championships. Itâs that bad. And after a missed cut at The Masters, then a T39 and T26 on LIV, heâs finally made a change to his coaching staff.

Smith has been with the same golf coach since he was nine years old, and 23 years later, heâs decided it is finally time for a change.
He has joined forces with the son of Butch Harmon, Tiger Woodsâ legendary former coach, who already works with Dustin Johnson on LIV.
Smith hopes that Claude Harmon III will turn his fortunes around, starting at the PGA Championship at Aronimink.
He explained the move to Todayâs Golfer, âItâs just a bit of a different outlook. Itâs not rocket science. I got to a point where I was thinking so many things in my golf swing that I couldnât hit the golf shot, which is never a fun place to be. He just really simplified it and made me think one thing rather than a thousand.
âItâs starting to feel good and starting to feel like I can actually commit to some shots and hit some different shots, so itâs coming along nicely. Claude spends a lot of time out on LIV with DJ. Heâs obviously got a wonderful reputation.â
But it was still painful for him to part ways with his childhood coach, Grant Field: âIt was a terrible, terrible conversation to have. Iâve been seeing Grant since I was like nine years old, and heâs a really good friend as well, so it was tough, but I feel like Iâve done the right thing for my golf. I think what Iâve done is right.

This was a drastic change for Smith, but an encouraging one, as it shows he is still dedicated to getting the best out of himself at majors.
