Cameron Young has issued his reaction to being given a one-shot penalty during the final round of the Cadillac Championship after securing his second win of the season.
There was none of the drama that came from Young’s previous victory at The Players Championship earlier this year. The 28-year-old was in command of the tournament from the early stages and barely looked back.
However, those hoping to see a battle on Sunday at Doral would have briefly been on alert after Young received a one-shot penalty on the second fairway.
Young noticed that his ball moved as he prepared to hit his shot. It was an incident that would not have been picked up by anyone watching on television. Nevertheless, he called in an official and was handed a penalty.
He still managed to make a par. And it certainly did not knock Young off his stride, as he went on to win by six shots. Brandel Chamblee was full of praise for how Young handled the incident on social media.

But Young revealed afterwards that he was far from pleased about what happened.
“That’s a really tough one to take but the worst case was that I made bogey and still had a three or four or five shot lead. It’s really unfortunate and I would like to have the one back I had to give there, but at the end of the day if I had to pick a time to give one back that wasn’t the worst time,” he said.
Young is certainly in the conversation for the best player on the PGA Tour right now. Winning at TPC Sawgrass and Doral is a hugely impressive record. He was also in contention at last month.

It was an outstanding performance this week, with the chasing pack completely unable to lay a glove on the American. And Young explained what pleased him most about his game on his way to victory on the Blue Monster.
“To me I felt like I had different parts of the golf game working on different days,” he said.
“Today I drove it a lot better. First few days I putted great and drove it a bit more all over the place.
“Thankfully I feel I have a lot of tools right now and throughout the week I was able to use different parts of the game to keep myself moving in the right direction.”
Young confirmed that he plans to tee it up again in the coming days at the Truist Championship despite having the PGA Championship looming on the horizon.
“I am looking forward to them. Major season is a great time of year,” he said.
“We have a great event next week in Charlotte at the Truist, so that is where I am going now.”
