Carol Melo on Seleção edge: “A very technical squad”

As the only team with a 100% record at the South American Women’s U-17 Championship, the Brazilian National Team will face Chile in the semifinal. Focused on securing a spot at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Carol Melo shared what she believes is this group’s difference-maker and said the Canarinho is well prepared for the next stages.

“This group is very technical. Each player’s individual qualities are insane. Every piece adds to the game model, which makes Brazil more attacking and more intense,” she said.

“We’re arriving well prepared. We’ve had a lot of training with this moment we’re about to experience in mind. I’m happy and, God willing, we’re going to Morocco,” she added.

EXPERIENCE

Carol Melo is one of the few athletes who played in the 2025 South American Women’s U-17 Championship and is back with the squad again this year. She spoke about the experience she has gained through her seven call-ups to the Brazilian National Team.

“I feel very happy and grateful. With every call-up, we keep improving. Yes (I feel more experienced), but that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is an international competition and from the weight it carries.”
