Carrick slams Martinez red card as one of the worst refereeing decisions he has ever seen
Michael Carrick says Lisandro Martinez’s red card against Leeds was one of the worst refereeing decisions he has ever seen.
The defender was shown a straight red card in the second half after being adjudged to have pulled Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair.
But Carrick made his feelings about the decision clear.
“Second half, I thought the way they went about it, they stayed positive and tried to get something out of the game after another shocking, shocking decision to send Licha off,” he said.
“It’s two games in a row we’ve had decisions against us, but that was one of the worst I’ve seen.

“You can elbow Leny Yoro for the first goal in the side of the head, you can throw your arm in Licha’s face and he’s off balance because of that and touches the back of his hair which pulls the bobble out.
“I don’t even know what it looks like, it’s not a pull, it’s not a tug, it’s not aggressive, he touches it and gets sent off. Shocking.”
Casemiro pulled a goal back for Man Utd after Noah Okafor’s first-half double, but it proved not to be enough as Carrick’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.
