Cape Cod Academy defeated Falmouth Academy 3-2, handing them their first loss of the season. The Seahawks remain undefeated at 5-0, with strong performances in singles matches.
In a battle between two undefeated Cape and Islands boys tennis teams, it was Cape Cod Academy that emerged with its record still in tact with a close 3-2 win over Falmouth Academy in a Lighthouse Division matchup.
The Seahawks (5-0) were led by their singles players. Ben Catalano defeated Fletcher Parsons 6-4, 6-4 at first singles, Garrett Wilson defeated Luke Okoshi-Michel 7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-4 at second singles and Connor Hall powered past Genie Chang 6-2, 6-4 at third singles.
The Mariners (4-1) swept both doubles matches. Matt Kellog and Nait Gartner defeated Rowan Lewison and Austin Newhall 6-4, 6-2 at first doubles, and Erik Gulman and Jay Zhang defeated Theo Draper and Nicholas Brown 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles.
In other high school sports action:
Monomoy 4, Dennis-Yarmouth 1: The Sharks (6-1) wasted no time returning to the win column with a victory over the Dolphins (0-6). Roman Pavluchenko defeated Landon Richter 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, while Tom Hereford defeated Ryan Clarke 6-1, 6-1 at second singles. Khush Patel and Ben Cao defeated Vlad Valchkou-Rose and Joe Morton 6-4, 6-2 at first doubles. The Sharks picked up a win via forfeit at second doubles.
Lucas Woods defeated Romani Thomas 6-0, 6-0 at third singles for the Dolphins' only victory in the match.
Nauset 5, Sandwich 0: The Warriors (2-4) ended a four-game losing streak at the expense of the winless Blue Knights (0-5).
Dusty O’Campbell defeated Nathan Delman 6-4, 6-4 at first singles, Will Christopher defeated Luke Calesho 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 at second singles and Tyler Flanders defeated Nathan LeBlank 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at third singles.
Gage Butler and Andrew Tobin defeated Bradley Moisman and Owen Kravitz 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles, while Het Patel and Bennet McKenna defeated Elliot Feteau and Joe Penna 6-2, 6-0 at second doubles.
Nauset 5, Sandwich 0: Anjali O’Brien defeated Abby Binienda 8-1 at first singles, Samantha Gomez defeated Senja Kravitz 8-0 at second singles, and Sophia Votteler defeated Tenley Rothera 8-3 at third singles.
Haley Jackson and Callie Murphy won 8-2 over Casey Pestilli and Sadie Clarkin at first doubles, and Olivia Vining and Daniela Chianciola defeated Lauren Meyer and Lily Shinn 8-5 at second doubles.
The Warriors (3-4) avoided falling to back-to-back defeats for a second time this season.
Cape Cod Academy won the match 3-2 against Falmouth Academy.

The Blue Knights (1-5) have dropped to five straight defeats since winning the opening match of the season.
Hull 7, Dennis-Yarmouth 3: The Dolphins' (3-3) defense, which was anchored by Ariana Corso and Riley Caruso, played a great game despite the loss. Mya Cerqueira made nine saves. Jenna Richard scored twice and Nadia Cerqueira added a goal to round out the scoring.
Upper Cape 10, Blue Hills 2: Braiden Hoban tallied four goals and an assist, while Aidan DiMestico recorded a hat trick and two assists for the Rams (7-1). Waylan Watts and Bryce Barton played stellar defense and each scooped a total of seven ground balls.
Barnstable 3, Brockton 0: The Red Hawks (9-0) recorded their eighth consecutive sweep of the season as they beat Brockton in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-20).
Matheus Alvarenga had seven digs, and Brady Kundel had five digs. Rafael Ferias and Ian Fernandes both had four digs each. The Red Hawks remained assertive on the serving line with multiple players having aces. Kundel recorded four aces, Alvarenga had three and Nick Dasilva added two. The outside hitters led the way offensively. Fernandes led the team with 12 kills and Kundel had 10 kills. Alvarenga had 22 assists.
Falmouth 3, Sandwich 2 (10 inn.): The Clippers (5-2) won their fifth straight game in a marathon matchup with the Blue Knights (2-6).
Tyler Jones and Chase Barrette were excellent over the 10 innings for the Blue Knights. Jones went seven innings with six strikeouts and only one run allowed. James Lehane led the way with two hits. Joe Coughlan, James Niemiec and Carter Lodge also had hits.
St. John Paul II 9, Monomoy 2: The undefeated Lions (6-0) topped the Sharks (2-5) behind Logan Our's strong performance on the mound. He pitched five innings, gave up four hits, two earned runs and struck out eight batters. He went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Henry Roy was 1-for-3 with a RBI, while Brian Mancinelli and Cash Finn both went 1-for-4 with a RBI.
Sandwich 14, Upper Cape 1 (5 inn.): The Blue Knights (7-2) won their fourth straight game after beating the Rams (1-3) in a non-league Cape and Islands matchup. Mia Consalvi, Lane Kraihanzel; Joanne Nunes and Capri Barber led the offense, while Sofie Farrington and Nunes were dominant on the mound, striking out 9-of-15 batters.
Apponequet 23, Bourne 3: The Canalamen (0-6) plated three runs for their best offensive mark of the season.
Barnstable 22, Dennis-Yarmouth 15: The Red Hawks (2-4) defeated the Dolphins (2-4) behind Camilla Nascimento, who pitched three innings with two strikeouts. She went 1-for-1 at the plate. Relief pitcher Madison Flynn pitched four innings, striking out eight. Flynn shined defensively at first base, while going 2-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs and four stolen bases. Shortstop Jazlyn Coyer also shined defensively and dominated at the plate going 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored, four RBIs and one stolen base. Danielle Franklin went 2-for-4 with four runs scored and two stolen bases.
Monomoy 5, Nauset 0: Kate Huse went 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, while Kiley Mawn went 1-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Kinsley Lister gave up just two hits in seven innings of work, striking out nine with only one walk allowed for the Sharks (6-1).
Savion Smith and Fiona Fitzgerald were the only ones to put the ball in play with a hit each for the Warriors (5-2).
