Celik’s agent meets with Roma to discuss renewal
Gian Piero Gasperini has reportedly taken the lead in requesting contract renewals for players whose contracts are expiring.
From Lorenzo Pellegrini to Celik, no one is excluded. Paulo Dybala and Stephan El Shaarawy are also hoping for a deal. One of the thorniest cases is that of the Turkish full-back.
The former Lille player, in fact, has asked for around €4 million, given that Roma is eligible for the growth decree.
Celik currently earns exactly half that (2), and the Giallorossi club has gone as far as offering €2.6 million.
As Il Messaggero reports, the player’s agent has been in Trigoria in recent days to reopen negotiations.
Matteo De Santis confirms that a meeting took place first with Sporting Director Massara on Monday, and then with Gasperini yesterday.
Roma hasn’t yet gone beyond a €2.6 million offer for Celik, but given that Gasperini seems to have agreed on a renewal, the figure could rise.
As La Repubblica reports, the Turkish full-back is well aware of this, having consulted with the coach and instructed his agent to speak with the Giallorossi.
With Juventus’ interest fading, the player announced he’d received a significant offer to leave Turkey for free.
There’s one detail: the alleged offer is just a ploy. In short, it’s a lure to convince the Friedkins, with Gasperini’s approval, to open their wallets. Celik could return home, but he’s eager to test himself in Serie A.
Celik is asking for a salary of around €4 million in his contract renewal discussions with Roma.
Other players involved in contract renewal discussions at Roma include Lorenzo Pellegrini, Paulo Dybala, and Stephan El Shaarawy.
The growth decree allows Roma to offer more competitive salaries, which is significant for contract negotiations with players like Celik.
