The Los Angeles Chargers were a tough watch on offense last season, as Justin Herbert was sacked 54 times and didn't want to throw the ball all too often.
A run-first offense, the Chargers were boring.
But now, as we look back on their offseason, L.A. has made some big additions, and perhaps the biggest is the hiring of Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator.
Herbert finally has a coordinator who will get the best out of him and put him in positions to succeed.
For CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles, he loves the creative flow of L.A.'s offseason plan.
“The Chargers' offense was completely broken because the offensive line was completely broken,” Pereles wrote. “Justin Herbert faced a quick pressure (within 2.5 seconds) on 177 dropbacks. But first, L.A. has to get there.
And with McDaniel seen as the saving grace for one of the NFL's most promising quarterbacks, all eyes are on him to see if he can finally unlock Herbert's potential.
