According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are signing former first-round pick and tight end David Njoku to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million. Njoku, who turns 30 next month, spent his first nine NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns after being chosen by them in the first round of the 2017 draft out of Miami. Njoku has 34 touchdowns across his career in the NFL and has scored at least four touchdowns in seven of those seasons. Njoku’s best season came in 2023 when he recorded 81 receptions for 882 yards and six touchdowns, all of which were career-highs. He also made it to the Pro Bowl for the only time in his career. However, Njoku has seen a bit of a decline since then. In 2024, Njoku responded to his career year by logging 64 grabs for 505 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games, but things got worse in 2025. Following the Browns’ selection of , Njoku’s role shrunk and he only had 293 yards on 33 catches. With the Chargers, Njoku will play a similar role alongside second-year pro , who had 49 catches for 664 yards during his rookie season.
