Chase Burns of the Cincinnati Reds struggled in his last start against the Los Angeles Angels, allowing 5 earned runs in 5.1 innings. He aims to improve in his upcoming game against the San Francisco Giants.

Something was just the slightest bit off with Cincinnati Reds righty Chase Burns during his most recent start.
It was a warm night in Great American Ball Park against a moderately imposing Los Angeles Angels lineup back on April 10th, with nothing too out of the ordinary about the conditions. Still, the fireballin’ righty had trouble finding his spots, and ultimately ended up exiting after 5.1 IP having allowed 7 hits, 4 walks, and 5 earned runs while fanning just 2 – a number wholly unlike him on a night he threw 92 pitches.
He even allowed homers to both Zach Neto and Josh Lowe.
Burns will get a chance to exorcise the demons from that frustrating outing when he toes the rubber on Thursday afternoon in GABP, this time with the San Francisco Giants in town and the Reds looking for a sweep of their former NL West rivals.
Cincinnati smashed their way past old friend Tyler Mahle and the Giants on Wednesday evening, setting the stage for a Burns revenge game to close out the series today. All that’s standing in their way is righty Landen Roupp, who will get the start in this matinee for San Francisco.
First pitch is slated for 12:40 PM ET, and the game will be carried by Reds.TV and MLB.tv.
Lineups for both clubs are listed below.
