Chelsea are understood to be contemplating the departure of Rosenior after only 103 days in charge, following a dreadful run of form.
The Blues lost 3-0 at Brighton on Tuesday night, a fifth consecutive Premier League defeat without scoring. It’s the club’s worst run of league defeats without scoring since 1912.
Rosenior was appointed from sister-club Strasbourg in January and signed a long-term deal. His contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2032, meaning Chelsea would need to compensate the head coach to the tune of around £24m, according to Football.London.
Chelsea face Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend, with the Blues’ board currently deliberating a decision. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea are ‘seriously considering a change of direction’ amid recent results.
Speaking after the defeat to Brighton, Rosenior was asked whether he had lost the Chelsea dressing room.
“Whether it’s playing for me, it’s not about playing for me. It’s about playing for the club. It’s about playing for the shirt. It’s about playing to win games of football. I can only speak on what I saw tonight. You can read anything into it that you want, whether they’re playing for me or not.
“That performance in itself was damning. It stood everything against what I believe in. We’ll find out [if the players will react].”
