Matt Law says that Chelseaâs hierarchy are happier with their sporting directors than most fans are, and gives an example of why.

Matt Law was on the London is Blue podcast this week, where he talked about where Chelseaâs thinking was at on their sporting directors.
âThey have received a barrel load of criticism over the past seven days,â Law said.
âThatâs the nature of the game, some of it is deserved, some of it is over the top. Some of it is misguided, some of it is correct, itâs all in there. But itâs brutal. Thatâs what they signed up for⊠at a club like Chelsea, if things go wrong, thatâs what happens.â
Fans are not happy with them, but according to Law, the club see things a little differently:
âThe club donât feel that all their decisions have been a disaster⊠[for example] the club would view Enzo Marescaâs appointment as a successful appointment.â
Thereâs no doubt that Maresca did well, taking his first Premier League job and getting the Blues into the Champions League at the first time of asking. But the fact is that he blew up and got himself sacked. To us, there was a failure on their part to find someone who was going to be able to work with them for more than 18 months.
