Chelsea have begun a process of "self-reflection" after a turbulent season and are looking for a new manager who aligns with the tactical identity established over the last four years.

And, according to The Independent, Xavi Hernández, former Barcelona manager, has emerged as one of the strongest names to lead the project at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues' board believes there has been progress in implementing a specific playing philosophy, one that already resonates from the youth ranks to the first team.

For that reason, the priority is to appoint a coach with principles similar to Enzo Maresca's, maintaining ideological continuity.

Candidates on the table

In addition to Xavi, other high-profile names are on the London club's shortlist:

• Xabi Alonso: Currently one of the most sought-after managers in Europe.
• Francesco Farioli: Currently at Porto, seen as a modern option.
