The Premier League has announced eight nominees for the 2025/26 Young Player of the Season Award, including Rayan Cherki, Kobbie Mainoo, and Scott. The winner will be determined by a combination of fan and expert votes next week.
Cherki, Mainoo, and Scott among the names for Young Player of the Season
The Premier League have revealed the eight players up for the 2025/26 Young Player of the Season Award.
The prize is awarded to the best player who began the current campaign at the age of 23 or under with a mix of fan and expert vote set to decide on a winner next week.
Manchester City signed Rayan Cherki from Lyon in the summer and the French international has added a touch of inspiration to Pep Guardiola's side, scoring four and making 12 assists in his first Premier League season.
There has been plenty of speculation over the future of Mateus Fernandes in recent days regardless of whether West Ham United stay up, a reflection of just how impressive the 21-year-old has been since his arrival from Southampton.
Newcastle United's league campaign has been disappointing overall for various reasons but one constant has been the ever-reliable and versatile Lewis Hall who has been a stand out performer for the Magpies.
One team performing above expectations is Brentford. As well as having and nominated for the Player and Manager awards, 21-year-old is among the eight candidates, no doubt in part to his long throws.
The nominees include Rayan Cherki, Kobbie Mainoo, and Scott, among others.
The award is given to the best player aged 23 or under who started the current campaign.
The winner is decided through a mix of fan votes and expert opinions.

Still just 19, Junior Kroupi has made quite the impact on the Premier League this season with 12 goals in his 31 appearances for Bournemouth. The French youth international has also scored four from the bench with no other player managing more in the top flight this season.
It took a while for Kobbie Mainoo to get some game time with Ruben Amorim not finding a place for the midfielder in his structure. However, Mainoo suits Michael Carrick's tactics perfectly and has made a fine pairing in the centre alongside the veteran Casemiro.
From one Manc to another, Nico O'Reilly is still just 21 but has stepped up another level this season with five goals and eight assists in 33 games for his side so far this season.
And last but not least, Guernsey-born Alex Scott has shown his class for the Cherries this season, netting three times for his side in the Premier League with a performance that has him linked with a number of big clubs this summer.
