Pittsburgh Steelers Named Major Winners of NFL Draft Day Two
Chiefs' Assistant GM Mike Bradway highlighted R Mason Thomas's standout qualities, including his ability to recover from injury and create turnovers. Thomas, a former Oklahoma star, was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft after impressive college stats.
Kansas City Chiefs Assistant General Manager Mike Bradway addressed reporters in a press conference shortly after Friday night of the NFL Draft. He revealed a standout quality of R Mason Thomas that led to his selection in the second round.
"I think the cool thing about him (Thomas) was the Tennessee game where he does the quad, you know, he has a fumble recovery. He goes, scores a touchdown. It's a bad quad injury," said Bradway, "He was out, I think, a few games, and then he comes back, plays against Alabama, does really well."
The 6-foot-2, 241-pound former Oklahoma Sooners star collected 22 tackles-for-loss, 15.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles during his final 23 games in college. Thomas earned All-SEC honors over the past two seasons to conclude his college football career.
"It's those snaps in the fourth quarter where he's gassing up, he's coming off the ball, and he's a guy that can create turnovers, both with his speed, I think his motor," said Bradway, "I think just having that guy, a threat to win consistently, will help everybody from from George (Karlaftis) to Chris (Jones), the whole group. So I think it's, it's a big addition."
Thomas missed 3 games with the leg injury suffered during a scoop-and-score touchdown against Tennessee. In 10 games last season, he finished with 26 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss with 6.5 sacks, a pass breakup, 2 forced fumbles, and a safety.
