It's a fascinating time to be a tight end joining the Kansas City Chiefs.

Travis Kelce is still there, of course, but it feels like retirement looms in the not-too-distant future. That could, eventually, create opportunities.

So any young TE that joins the building has to have at least a little thought that there could be a bigger role coming for them down the road, if things break just the right way.

That's the spot John Michael Gyllenborg finds himself in.

He's one of the bunch of undrafted free agents who signed with the Chiefs after the 2026 NFL Draft, according to The Kansas City Star.

Gyllenborg's most intriguing trait in this circumstance is actually his hometown -- he attended Rockhurst High School, which is about a 30-minute drive from Arrowhead Stadium.

After high school, Gyllenborg moved on to play four seasons at Wyoming. He had 80 catches in his college career for 1,023 yards.

Gyllenborg measured 6-foot-5 in the pre-draft process at 249 pounds.

He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, vertical jumped 35.5 inches and broad jumped 10 feet, 8 inches.

That makes him a solid enough athlete, with good size, for an undrafted tight end.
