The Kansas City Chiefs' defense, for most, requires two positions to be fortified in the NFL Draft, and that is edge and corner.
With Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie both now with the Los Angeles Rams, the Chiefs' pass rush is in desperate need of getting help for Chris Jones and George Karlaftis.
Armed with two first-round picks, the Chiefs can, in theory, get both positions sorted in the first-round, but which should take precedence?
For CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles, in his latest mock draft, it's edge, and at No. 9, the Chiefs take Texas Tech stud David Bailey.
"The Chiefs have several options here -- wide receiver, right tackle, cornerback, safety, linebacker and pass rusher -- but ultimately go with David Bailey, whose burst off the line of scrimmage is second to none in this class," Pereles wrote. "His speed gives opponents nightmares. The Chiefs got pretty good results the last time they took a Texas Tech star in the top 10 -- Patrick Mahomes -- and they take another Red Raider here."

The Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era in 2025, and that has given the franchiseĀ ample time to figure out what went wrong.
Plus, it also gives the Chiefs time to look at the roster and figure out where to improve it via free agency and the draft.
Having already made some key signings, most notably Kenneth Walker, the Chiefs will now turn to the draft with two first-round picksĀ to bolster the roster even further.
The 2025 season was one to forget for a host of reasons, and the long road to ensure it doesn't happen again has already begun for Kansas City.
David Bailey is a standout edge rusher from Texas Tech, and he is considered crucial for the Chiefs to bolster their pass rush alongside Chris Jones and George Karlaftis.
The Chiefs need to fortify their defense, specifically targeting the edge and cornerback positions due to recent player departures.
The Kansas City Chiefs have two first-round picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, giving them the opportunity to address multiple defensive needs.
