🚨 Chinè: Wild claims, no wrongdoing in 2025

The Federal Football Prosecutor, Giuseppe Chinè, issued an official statement regarding the case involving the Serie A and Serie B referees’ appointing official, Gianluca Rocchi.

Chinè wanted to clarify the matter, describing the reconstructions circulating in recent hours as "fanciful."

Below is the statement:

Chinè’s statement

"Since in recent hours some media outlets have been spreading untrue and even fanciful reports, completely detached from the reality of what happened, for the sole purpose of safeguarding the precise and scrupulous work of the FIGC Federal Prosecutor’s Office, which I have the honor of leading, I wish to confirm that on May 21, 2025, I received exclusively the complaint signed by assistant referee Domenico Rocca concerning the alleged external intervention in the VAR room by appointing official Rocchi during the Udinese-Parma match."

Chinè then continued:

"Following that complaint, in full compliance with the rules of the Sports Justice Code, a sports investigation was immediately opened, with all the individuals involved and those possibly aware of the facts described by the complainant being heard. As a result of those investigative steps and the testimony given by the people present in the Lissone building, no conduct of disciplinary relevance in sporting terms emerged against any AIA member. As provided for by the current Sports Justice Code, in July 2025 the Federal Prosecutor’s Office therefore proposed to the General Sports Prosecutor’s Office at CONI that the sporting disciplinary proceedings be dismissed."

Finally, Chinè stressed that he has already requested the investigation documents:

"That proposal, in light of the investigative acts carried out, and specifically the content of the statements made by all those questioned, was shared by the General Sports Prosecutor’s Office. As for any possible new facts of sporting disciplinary relevance that the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office may be looking into, in line with my Office’s practice and as I have always done in the past in relation to other well-known criminal proceedings that could be of sporting disciplinary interest, I confirm that I am already in contact with the investigating authorities handling the criminal proceedings and that as of yesterday I have already formally requested the documents of the criminal investigation, where disclosable, in order to launch and, if necessary, reopen the sports investigation, should there be new evidence deemed decisive".
