Bassitt left in free agency this offseason to sign with the Baltimore Orioles. But in relaying a story to reporters on Monday, he shared how it wasn't the easiest move for the younger members of his family.
According to MLB.com's Ayako Oikawa, Bassitt's kids are "confused" by the fact that their father's hat now has a different bird logo on it. "That's not the Blue Jays," they tell him.

Bassitt spent three seasons with the Blue Jays, including a 16-win, 3.60 ERA season with Toronto in 2023, so it had been a while since he had pitched anywhere else.
His Orioles tenure hasn't started off quite as well. Through six starts, Bassitt has a 5.46 ERA. But he's long-since proven himself as an MLB starting pitcher who rarely misses a start and usually puts up quality outings, so Baltimore likely believes Bassitt can find his groove here shortly.
But it's fair to wonder whether the mojo is messed up. He no longer has a Blue Jay on his hat, after all.
