Paul signed with the Clippers as a free agent last summer and announced the 2025-26 season would be his last run before retirement. His final season was shockingly cut short when the Clippers dismissed the future Hall of Famer from the team in December.
Two months later, the Clippers traded Paul to the Toronto Raptors in a three-team trade deal. But Paul was never required to report to the Raptors, and Toronto ultimately waived him on Feb. 13.
Paul decided to retire after that, which meant he unknowingly played the final game of his NBA career with the Clippers on Dec. 1.
The Clippers received a lot of backlash for cutting Paul in December. Then, the franchise posted a tribute video for Paul after he announced his immediate retirement in February.
