The Cincinnati Reds received positive news regarding pitchers Emilio Pagán and Brady Singer, avoiding long-term injuries. Closer Pagán tweaked his hamstring during a game but showed no bruising after medical assessment.
The Cincinnati Reds have hopefully avoided any long-term injuries to a pair of pitchers.
Closer Emilio Pagán appeared to tweak his hamstring after delivering the final pitch of the Reds' 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants at Great American Ball Park on Tuesday, April 14.
The Reds medical team assessed Pagán after the game and found no bruising. On Wednesday, Pagán spoke with reporters outside of his locker room after playing catch on the field.
Reds closer Emilio Pagan (15) suffered a hamstring injury in the Reds' 2-1 win over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

"I don't have any pain, but it is very tight," Pagán said. "I went out and played catch. I did some treatment on it this morning when I got in early. I played catch fine. Looking like we dodged a bullet. Hopefully things continue to trend positively."
Pagán, who is in his third season with the Reds, ranks tied for second in the majors with five saves. Pagán had a career-high 32 saves last season and returned to the Reds on a two-year, $20 million deal in December.
Since allowing four runs on three hits in a loss to Pittsburgh April 1, Pagán has worked six scoreless innings over six appearances, recording four saves and a victory.
"I think the next step is, we want to see when he cools down how he feels when goes back to start moving again," Reds manager Terry Francona said Wednesday. "We'll check him out in a couple of hours. That was very encouraging."
Pagán's status for the second game of the Reds-Giants series is up in the air. If he can't go, one likely option is right-hander Tony Santillan, who had seven saves last season.
"It depends how we get there," Francona said of his other ninth-inning options if Pagán is unavailable.
Reds starting pitcher Brady Singer also looks to have avoided any missed time after being hit on the foot by a grounder in the sixth inning on Tuesday. X-rays on Singer's foot were negative Tuesday.
"No swelling and he's walking normally, so that part's good, too," Francona said Wednesday.
