Thursdayâs loss at Virginia Tech added another chapter to a season that continues trending the wrong direction. Clemson dropped the opener of the series 5-1 in Blacksburg, falling to 9-19 against ACC opponents with only two league games left on the schedule.
That number matters because Clemson baseball almost never lives in this part of the standings.

A four-run inning from the Hokies turned a manageable game into another frustrating conference loss for Clemson, which has now dropped four of its last five games overall.
Virginia Tech improved to 14-14 in ACC play with the victory, while Clemson slipped to 30-24 overall.
Now, the focus surrounding the Tigers is shifting beyond simply trying to win a series. With another loss, Clemson would officially match a record no team in the program wants attached to its season.
