Former Clemson forward Jake Wahlin is coming home to Provo, where he was always supposed to be, after committing to transfer to his hometown BYU on Wednesday, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. Wahlin will have one year of eligibility.
The 6-foot-10, 210-pound Wahlin originally signed with his hometown Cougars as a three-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle out of Timpview (Provo, Utah) High, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. But he eventually flipped that commitment to Utah following a two-year Mormon mission to Lithuania, according to Desert News.
Whalin spent the 2025-26 season at Clemson following two seasons with his home state Utah, where he started 23 of his 53 games with the Utes between 2023-25. Wahlin averaged a career-best 6.3 points per game in 2024-25 as a sophomore at Utah.
In his lone season with the Tigers, Wahlin made 35 appearances and 28 starts. He averaged 5.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game, while shooting 40.3% from the field and 34.0% from beyond the arc. Wahlin averaged 20.5 minutes per contest.
Wahlin’s best performance last season was in Clemson’s 85-77 loss to Wake Forest on Feb. 18. In the loss, Wahlin tallied a season-high 17 points and five rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor.
Wahlin was a McDonald’s All-American Game nominee as a senior.
