Clemson football missed out on one of its offensive line targets Monday, as four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Miller committed to Florida over a group that included the Tigers, Texas Tech, and Texas.
Miller, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound lineman out of Anna, Texas, announced his commitment to the Gators in a report by Rivals' Hayes Fawcett. The decision was not a total surprise, given the direction of his recruitment, with Florida holding the strongest prediction before his commitment. Still, Clemson being listed among his finalists shows the Tigers were involved with another talented offensive line prospect they would have gladly added.
For Clemson, the miss is frustrating, but it does not mean the offensive line board is falling apart. The Tigers still appear to be in a strong position for 2027 offensive tackle Elijah Hutcheson, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound prospect out of North Cross in Roanoke, Virginia. Hutcheson currently has a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction pointing to Clemson at 100 percent, giving Matt Luke and the Tigers a major name to watch moving forward.
That matters because Clemson football has been trying to stack high-level bodies up front and keep building the offensive line room under Luke. Losing Miller stings, especially when Florida wins a head-to-head battle, but Hutcheson’s recruitment gives Clemson fans a reason not to overreact.
Now the focus turns to whether Clemson can close on Hutcheson and keep adding quality offensive line talent before the class is finished.
