Clemson softball achieved its first ACC series sweep by defeating No. 18 Virginia 6-1. The Tigers showcased strong hitting and pitching throughout the series, with key contributions from Taylor Pipkins and Kiley Channell.
Clemson softball finally broke through on something that had slipped away a couple times earlier this season, finishing off its first ACC series sweep with a 6-1 win over No. 18 Virginia on Sunday.
The Tigers built this one from the start. A hit-by-pitch and a well-placed bunt set up the opening run, and from there the lineup kept applying pressure. Taylor Pipkins delivered one of the biggest swings of the day with a two-run homer in the second, and Kiley Channell answered Virginiaâs lone run with a blast of her own in the third. She wasnât done either, adding another RBI later to help stretch the lead.
Sierra Maness took care of the rest. The right-hander went the distance, giving up just two hits and one run while working through a few tight spots. Virginia had chances but couldnât come through when it mattered, finishing empty in key at-bats.
Clemsonâs offense stayed efficient throughout, consistently cashing in when opportunities showed up. That combination of timely hitting and steady pitching helped the Tigers control the entire weekend, not just Sundayâs game.
With another ranked win added to the rĂ©sumĂ© and a long-awaited conference sweep secured, Clemson now turns its focus to Tuesdayâs home finale against Presbyterian.
