Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has had an eventful offseason before the 2026 NFL Draft. There is a legitimate case to be made that Tyson is the number one wide receiver in this year's draft, but he has one major question mark: his health.
Tyson's career in college has been marred by injury. In 2022, he destroyed his knee in an uneven contest against Oregon, which lingered all the way through the 2023 campaign as he only appeared in three games. Then, in 2024, he suffered a broken collarbone and then capped his career off with a hamstring injury that caused him to miss three games.
That hamstring injury didn't just heal for Tyson; it lingered and lingered pretty significantly. All the way through the pre-draft process, Tyson has been unable to test or perform because of lingering symptoms. He didn't participate in the combine, and he didn't participate in Arizona State's Pro Day. As a result of his high draft projection, Tyson held an individual workout on Friday to showcase his skills and prove to every team that he is ready to go.
According to those who were there, Tyson answered the eye test. He looked just as bit as twitchy and explosive as he had on film, and the teams that were in attendance reportedly liked what they saw. One report said that he ran around 20 routes and dropped just one pass.
Add Tyson back into the conversation for the Cleveland Browns at both six and 24. The way that Tyson is being discussed right now, it seems logical that he, like Carnell Tate, is probably in play at six and not much later. This draft has a ton of "good" in it with very little "great." Tyson has the potential to be great at the next level.
If Cleveland were presented with a choice at pick six between Tate and Tyson, I don't believe there is an incorrect answer. While I personally like one more than the other, if they came away with either, there is reason to be excited.
The second layer to the Tyson story is that he and his brother would be realizing their professional dreams in the same city, playing just right up the street from each other. While Jodryn Tyson is being drafted, the hope is that Jaylon Tyson is helping the Cleveland Cavaliers reach the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Friday was a massive day for Tyson. He had the spotlight to prove that he is healthy enough to spend a high value pick on, the only hope is that he put on enough of a sales job to convince one of his future employers. Maybe, just maybe, that one is the .
Jordyn Tyson has suffered a destroyed knee, a broken collarbone, and a lingering hamstring injury that affected his performance.
In his final workout, Tyson ran around 20 routes and dropped only one pass, impressing scouts with his explosiveness.
Despite his injury history, Tyson is viewed as a top prospect due to his explosive playmaking ability demonstrated in previous games.
