Cleveland Guardians Calling Up Top Prospect Travis Bazzana, per Report
It was only a matter of time before the Cleveland Guardians promoted their top-ranked prospect to join the big league team, and now the Travis Bazzana era is about to get underway.
The Guardians are promoting Bazzana, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, to make his MLB debut, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
There was really never a question of whether Bazzana would be promoted during the 2026 season, but more a matter of when. If the 23-year-old didn’t suffer an oblique injury in the middle of the 2025 season, there’s a good chance he would’ve been up with the Guardians last fall.
A few weeks ago, Chris Antonetti, Cleveland’s President of Baseball Operations, was asked about Bazzana’s development and what was needed for a potential call-up, and explained it was no different with Bazzana than any other prospect; the organization had to see development and needed to have an opportunity to make an impact with the big league team.
Both of those factors now reign true for both the Guardians and Bazzana.
Travis Bazzana is expected to make his MLB debut soon, as he has been promoted to the Guardians' major league team.
Travis Bazzana was delayed in his promotion due to an oblique injury he suffered during the 2025 season.
Travis Bazzana is the top-ranked prospect for the Cleveland Guardians and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, making him a highly anticipated addition to the team.

In terms of an opportunity, that opened up the moment that Gabriel Arias hit the injured list at the beginning of the month, as Brayan Rocchio slid over to shortstop, opening up second base, which is Bazzana's natural position.
Yes, Juan Brito and Daniel Schneemann have filled in for the time being, but the future of the position has always been Bazzana’s, and now that’s coming to fruition.
Looking at the development piece of Antonetti’s comments, Bazzana has taken strides since the start of the season in that department as well.
It’s no secret that Bazzana got off to a relatively slow start to his 2026 Minor League campaign for his standards. He even had an eight-game stretch in the first few weeks where he was 6-for-34 (.176 AVG) at the plate with a wRC+ of 62.
At this point, though, it’s safe to say that was simply an anomaly for the left-handed hitter, because Bazzana has been playing some of his best baseball since joining the Guardians.
Bazzana is currently on a 13-game on-base streak with the Columbus Clippers, and has increased his overall season slashline to a .287/.422/.511 with a wRC+ of 152. Those numbers are much more in line with his overall minor league career OPS of .826.
With Bazzana now reportedly headed to Cleveland, his big-league debut could come as soon as Tuesday evening, as the Guardians continue their series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
