Colby Covington says the longstanding beef between him and Jon Jones was fueled by testosterone ā and not the good olā fashioned natural kind.
Covington and Jones were former roommates while wrestling for Iowa Center Community College, and Colby claims their time together was all good ⦠until Jones started taking steroids to bulk up. Things quickly went sideways from there as āBonesā allegedly started raging out.
Colby laid out the story during a new interview with Daniel Cormier.
āIt wasnāt until my last year in college when he started using testosterone,ā he said (via MMAWeekly). āBecause he wanted to beef up from 197 to heavyweight. So his plan was like, āHey, letās just start doing a bunch of testosterone to get strength and get bigger.ā Thatās when his mood swings started going all over the place.ā
āHe started yelling at me for little sāt. Like, Iād leave my shoes up front by the door. āWhat the fāk Colby? Why are your shoes by the door? I almost tripped on them.ā Freaking out, making a big deal out of something. Iām being real. Thatās the honest truth.ā
āHe would freak out about little sāt that didnāt matter just because he was having mood swings from all the chemicals and the steroids he was putting in his body. Thatās facts. No one can dispute that. He failed two or three steroid tests. The guyās a cheater, bro. He was doing it in college because he wanted to bulk up to heavyweight. He didnāt want to go 197 anymore.ā
Jones has failed multiple tests and never provided particularly convincing excuses as to why. He blamed one drug test failure on tainted erection medication, but the person who gave him the āboner pillsā ordered them the PED Jones was caught using.

Then there was the pulsing picograms of Turinabol metabolite that showed up in Jonesā system. A lot of work went into explaining how tiny traces of metabolites can show up in an athleteās system ⦠not so much explanation for how those metabolites got there in the first place.
