Dallas Stars lose 6-1 to Minnesota Wild, fall into 1-0 series hole

No. 9 Virginia defeated Clemson 5-4, winning two of three games in their series. Harrison Didawick hit two home runs, while Clemson's rally fell short despite solo homers from Luke Gaffney and Bryce Clavon.
Apr. 18āCHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. ā Harrison Didawick homered twice as No. 9 Virginia took two of three in the series with a 5-4 win over Clemson.
The Cavaliers (28-13, 12-9 ACC) led 4-1 before the Tigers (25-16, 6-12) mounted a rally. Clemson cut the lead to one in the eighth on solo homers by Luke Gaffney and Bryce Clavon, but Virginia was able to hang on.
Nate Savoie was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI for Clemson, while Jacob Jarrell was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Tyler Licthtenberger was also 2 for 4.
Tigers reliever Danny Nelson took the loss.
No. 17 Mississippi State 9, South Carolina 0
COLUMBIA ā Mississippi State starter Duke Stone overpowered South Carolina, tossing six shutout innings while striking out 12 as the No. 17 Bulldogs cruised to a 9-0 win at Founder's Park.
The Gamecocks (19-21, 5-12 SEC) had seven hits ā all singles ā with Talmadge LeCroy, KJ Scobey and Dawson Harman picking up two hits each.
USC starter Amp Phillips allowed five runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk in four innings with three strikeouts.
William & Mary 7, College of Charleston 5
WILLIAMSBURG, VA. ā William & Mary rallied from a 5-0 deficit to rally past College of Charleston 7-5.
The Cougars (18-20, 9-8 CAA) scored all five runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a three-run homer by Dylan Johnson.
But the Tribe (16-21, 7-10) scored one in the bottom of the inning before four the following inning to even the score. William & Mary scored twice in the eighth to take the lead for good.
Reece Holbrook was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a stolen base for Charleston. Starter Jace Stancil allowed three runs in five innings, while reliever Kurt Rogers took the loss.
ETSU 5, The Citadel 4
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. ā One night after an epic comeback by The Citadel, it was ETSU that came up with the final blow on Saturday.
Luke Matlock singled in the winning run with one out in the ninth to give ETSU a 5-4 walk-off victory.
Christian Stratis was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Bulldogs (18-20, 4-7 Southern Conference), while Michael Gibson and Sam Dansky were each 2 for 3 with a walk and an RBI.
Bulldogs starter Andrew Buffkin was solid over five innings, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks while striking out three. Reliever Trip Brown took the loss.
ETSU improved to 24-12, 7-4.
A night earlier, the Bulldogs trailed 7-1 before 11 straight men reached base, part of an eight-run seventh inning that propelled The Citadel to an 11-8 win.
High Point 14, Charleston Southern 3
Jace Kohler homered twice and High Point pounded out 19 hits in a 14-3 rout of Charleston Southern.
Gavin Speirs was 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Buccaneers (21-16, 6-8 Big South), while Caden Wolfley was 2 for 4 with a double and Nathan Martinez 2 for 2.
Virginia won the game against Clemson with a final score of 5-4.
Luke Gaffney and Bryce Clavon each hit solo home runs for Clemson.
After the series, Virginia's record improved to 28-13 overall and 12-9 in the ACC.
