Colorado football made its biggest recruiting splash in the 2027 cycle when it received a commitment from four-star quarterback Andre Adams. Since then, Adams has been hot on the recruiting trail, naming specific players he wants to join him in Boulder. He has also been outspoken about how NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) impacted his recruitment and ultimately his commitment to Colorado.
Adams spoke to On3/Rivals (subscription required) at a recent Rivals Camp in Nashville, saying that he did not negotiate his NIL deal; his father did.
"Really, my dad knew what [the NIL number]," Adams said. "You talk about market value, you'd have to talk to my dad because there was a number he was set on. If you were under that number, it was a no for sure."
Obviously, Colorado and coach Deion Sanders paid the price Adams and his dad set. CU fans should be ecstatic that Colorado has the money and, perhaps more importantly, is willing to spend the necessary amount to land a star quarterback from the high school ranks.
For Sanders and the Buffs, the pressure now shifts to keeping Adams committed up until early signing day in early December 2026. Commitment flips are now the norm in college football, where richer teams can throw out outrageous amounts that programs like Colorado cannot match.
If it is any consolation, Adams seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and the fact that he is recruiting heavily to bring recruits with him to Boulder makes his commitment look very secure.
