Colton Hood's interception, celebration steals show at Giants rookie minicamp
New York Giants rookie cornerback Colton Hood is quickly making his mark at rookie minicamp, delivering both highlight-reel plays and a notable moment on Saturday.
In a routine Cover 2 period, Hood's receiver broke short while he matched the running back to the flat (Miles Davis). The Tennessee product broke sharply on the throw, snatched the ball from Davis' hands to secure the interception, and would have brought it back for a 55-yard score if it were a live game.
Initially, he showed restraint and declined to celebrate.

âItâs practice. Iâm not really going to celebrate on my teammates," he told reporters.
But defensive backs coach Addison Lynch and the staff urged him on, prompting Hood to unleash his signature: The "Hoodâ celebration.
The move has since exploded online, catching the rookie by surprise.
âIt's really cool. I didn't expect it to get this big. I've seen other players from different teams use it, but it really isnât the same because their last name is not Hood,â he said with a grin. "It's been really cool just to see it pick up like that. I'm going to keep doing it the rest of my career."
Hoodâs calm under pressure stems from his baseball roots, where he played centerfield.
âI think a lot of DBs panic just because they're not great at tracking the ball. I played baseball, played center field, so tracking a football is 10,000 times easier than tracking a baseball. I wouldn't say it's easy, but it's something that I've been doing my whole life. So, it comes natural to me,â he explained.
That background gives him a natural edge few defensive backs possess, allowing him to attack the ball with confidence instead of panic.
The former Volunteer also impressed with his mature, business-first approach. Versatile enough to shadow top receivers on either side in college, Hood embraces physical press coverage and brings a dominant mentality to run support. Lighthearted off the field, he plans to stay quiet among veterans next week, letting his play earn respect before he speaks up.
