Mel Kiper's final 2026 NFL mock draft predicts the Indianapolis Colts will select Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. to address their significant need at the linebacker position.
ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has put together his final 2026 NFL mock draft, and it's a two-rounder, which means the Indianapolis Colts are included.
As Kiper notes, to make these predictions, he is leaning on team needs, his own evaluations, and what he's hearing from conversations with those around the NFL.
Hill Jr. has been a fairly popular pick for the Colts in mock drafts, and it's easy to see why. For one, the team has a massive roster hole at the linebacker position currently.
As of now, Akeem Davis-Gaither sits atop the depth chart, and the next more experienced player at this position is Jaylon Carlies, with 244 career snaps -- most of which came in 2024.
Adding Hill Jr. to this room would provide the Colts with an immediate starter and a well-rounded presence at the position.
Hill Jr. has played nearly 2,000 defensive snaps over the last three seasons. During that span, he has generated 60 quarterback pressures and logged 227 total tackles, according to PFF.
In coverage, he's allowed 8.3 yards per reception with three interceptions and two pass breakups. While mostly playing from the box, Hill Jr. has experience in the slot and lining up along the defensive front.
"He can cover a lot of ground at the second level and ran a 4.51 at the combine at 238 pounds," Kiper wrote. "But he also has upside as a pass rusher, and there's a chance he plays on the edge in the pros. He'd be a good fit in Lou Anarumo's defense."'
Hill Jr. still being on the board at pick No. 47 when the Colts are on the clock would be an ideal draft day scenario for Indianapolis.
