Colts' coach on Anthony Richardson taking part in offseason workouts

In the midst of wanting to be traded, quarterback Anthony Richardson reported to the Indianapolis Colts' voluntary offseason programs.

With Phase II underway, the Colts are back on the practice field.

“Anthony showed up here ready to work this week and, shoot, we’re gonna get some good work out of him and try to get him better and get him opportunities to go work his drills and get some throws and all that good stuff,” said offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, via The Athletic's James Boyd.

Richardson requested to be traded back in late February, yet he remains with the team. As ESPN's Adam Schefter reported prior to the draft, Richardson's trade market was "soft."

Richardson's market may not be getting any stronger either, with potential destinations apparently dwindling.

With Richardson in the mix, it remains to be seen how reps are being split between him and Riley Leonard. Cooter, however, wasn't going to

“Who’s with what group is not any sorta news I’m trying to break here today, but guys are out there getting work. There's reps to go around, there's throws to make, there's reps to get in drills, those guys are all a part of the thing and all getting those reps," added Cooter. "That's where I'm at with the thing."

While the Colts are looking to get a deal done, GM Chris Ballard also wants to ensure he does what's best for the organization and gets a fair return for Richardson, who is still just 23 years old.

That said, finding a trade partner sooner rather than later is likely the best outcome for both sides, ideally before training camp arrives.
