The Indianapolis Colts' Day 3 pick, offensive lineman Jalen Farmer, is highlighted as a favorite selection by ESPN's Field Yates. Farmer is praised for his size, agility, and potential to make an early impact in the NFL.
An early Day 3 pick made by the Indianapolis Colts was among the favorite selections of ESPN's Field Yates.
Yates put together his list of favorite picks made in each of the seven rounds. Among his Round 4 selections is now-Colts' offensive lineman Jalen Farmer.
"Farmer is a quintessential "first guy off the bus" type of guard, bringing a mean streak to the field," Yates wrote. "He has great size and nimble feet, and he can drive defenders with ease when he engages. Farmer will need to work on his hands at the NFL level, but I'm bullish on his strength making an early impact for Indy."
Farmer is a two-year starter with all of his snaps coming at right guard. He was stout in pass protection, surrendering only 14 pressures and three sacks over 457 pass-blocking snaps in 2025. He also graded out fairly well in the run game by PFF's metrics.
Along with playing guard, GM Chris Ballard believes that he can help out at the tackle position as well.
From the jump, Farmer could push Matt Goncalves or Jalen Travis for playing time. Or at the very least, Farmer will provide needed depth at both the guard and tackle positions.
Down the stretch last season, as a collective unit, the Colts' offensive line struggled to generate consistent running lanes for Jonathan Taylor.
"He's a big powerful man," Ballard said of Farmer. "I think he's going to be a really good addition to our O-line, not only from a talent standpoint, but also from a cultural standpoint. He fits what we look for and we also think he's got some swing tackle. So, it'd be nice to add him in the mix and watch him compete."
Jalen Farmer is an offensive lineman for the Indianapolis Colts, specifically playing as a guard.
Field Yates noted Farmer's strong performance, highlighting his size, nimble feet, and ability to drive defenders, while also mentioning areas for improvement.
In college, Jalen Farmer allowed only 14 pressures and three sacks over 457 pass-blocking snaps, demonstrating strong pass protection skills.
