Colts receiver Alec Pierce sidelined following offseason surgery

Just as the Indianapolis Colts began to build momentum during a productive 2026 offseason, a sudden setback involving Alec Pierce has quickly cooled optimism in Indy.

With the NFL Draft now just three days away, Pierce has been hit with unfortunate news that’s already reshaping the conversation around the team.

During Monday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter provided further clarity on the situation after Pat McAfee relayed a report from NFL analyst Ari Meirov regarding Pierce’s status.

Pierce is expected to be sidelined for at least three months following an ankle procedure, dealing a notable blow to the Colts’ offensive outlook just before the NFL Draft.

While early expectations suggest Pierce could be back in time for training camp, the update still caught fans off guard, especially on the heels of the massive $114 million deal he signed earlier this offseason.

If Pierce isn’t ready to go by camp, the concerns around the Colts’ receiving corps only grow louder, with Josh Downs currently the lone proven option alongside him and limited depth behind the duo.

Complicating matters further, Indianapolis won’t be on the clock in Round 1.

The front office will have to stay patient and regroup ahead of Day 2, where the Colts are slated to begin their draft at pick No. 47 on Friday, April 24.

In at least a bit of encouraging news for fans, Colts general manager pointed to this year’s receiver class as one of the five best talent groups in the draft.
